Recycle for Revenue: How to get £5 off your next skincare shop
By Maddie Rolfe

Looking for a way to be sustainable and also get money off your next cleanser? We know how quickly shopping for skincare can add up in price… one minute you’re putting two things in your basket, then you’ve spent £50. It happens to the best of us.

However, did you know in the UK, high street drugstore Boots has an offer that allows you to get £5 off your next shop?

“Our goal is to make recycling as simple and rewarding as possible for our customers” said a Boots sustainability representative – we love an eco-conscious brand!

Stop throwing away your empty toiletries and beauty products! Make money from them instead 💷 The Boots recycling scheme rewards you with £5 worth of advantage card points for every 5 products you recycle. I’ve been doing this for a while but there is still a lot of people who don’t know about it – so thought I’d make this video. #bootsuk #savemoney #costofliving #moneysavingtipsuk #personalfinanceuk

Launched in 2020, the recycling scheme means those with an Advantage Card (if you don’t already have one, how are you surviving paying full-price?) can earn points by giving back their empty containers.

There’s not even any evil terms and conditions attached to the scheme – apart from: buyers are restricted to only recycling five items daily… and you do have to spend at least £10. Which we think is fair, because if you’re already going in to buy something, just take some things back with you! Also, who has that many things to return daily? Unless you’re a skincare fanatic, of course.

So, what do I do to get my £5? Just turn up to any of the 700 Boots stores involved in the scheme, download the ‘Recycle At Boots’ app, and bring five items with you that are empty and clean after spending £10.

It might be a pain making sure your products are clean before bringing them back, but this ensures that we can continue to help the environment and make sure everything gets 100% recycled!

According to their website, they have managed to recycle over 3.1 million products, showing a huge environmental impact!
