Fancy a ‘Lush’ experience? Go get your free skincare consultation!
By Lily Taylor

The famous bath bomb brand, Lush, want to expand on their skincare range- which can only be a good thing for Radiance! Lush are offering free skincare consultations and free samples of the products in all Lush stores across the UK.

We all love a freebie, so we went to test out this experience for you to tell you whether it is truly worth it.

We attended the Lush shop in Meadowhall shopping centre in Sheffield and all we had to do was ask one of the very friendly shop assistants for more information.

Sherrie Tilley was more than happy to attend us and immediately sat down to begin my skincare consultation.

My skincare consultation

She asked me about my skin type, whether oily or dry, what skin problems I had or had had in the past, whether I was sensitive to certain products and finally if I was on any medication for my skin.

After the five minute chat she went to get the products she deemed apt for my skin.

She returned with seven products; a face mask, a toner, three types of cleanser, a moisturiser and a spot treatment.

“We tend to use the back of your hand to test out the products, as it is the skin that is most similar to your face. Although some people do tell us to whack it on their face straight away,” Sherrie says.

With a bowl full of warm water and some cotton pads she slowly tried all the products on the back of my hand, applying lightly and removing it gently.

She explained the ingredients of each product and what they do, and why she had chosen it for me.

Overall, the whole process took around 20 minutes.

Afterwards Sherrie told me I could browse the products to see if I wanted to buy any and if not she would give me samples of all the products she had recommended.

I ended up buying the Mask of Magnaminty, which I have used three times in the past couple of weeks and the tea tree facial toner spray, which I am currently using every day. And this is my opinion on them:

Mask of Magnaminty : it is a weekly face, neck, back and chest mask, which works as a natural exfoliant, ideal for acne prone skin. It contains mint, clay, vanilla and natural exfoliator.

It smells lovely if you enjoy the smell of mint and it feels very cooling on your skin. I let it sit for around 15 minutes and then wash it off.

I bought a small (125g) pot and it cost me £11. I give this product a 8/10 as it feels and smells great and so far I have seen no negative effects. It’s missing out on the 10 because  I haven’t used it for long enough yet- we might have to do a follow-up…

Tea tree facial toner water: a facial toner spray that is used after cleansing and before moisturising. It feels fresh and cooling on your skin and is also good for spot prone skin.

I have used this product everyday since I bought it and I love it. Its main ingredients are tea tree water and grapefruit.  It feels refreshing and light although I wouldn’t overuse it, as if used too often and without moisturizing it could dry out your skin- this happened to me while filming a TikTok for Radiance! It took me 100 takes!

I bought the smaller (100g) spray and it cost me £8. I give this product a 9/10. I really like it and I believe it can be beneficial when used correctly.

In terms of the other products, I didn’t end up buying them, as I am a student on a budget afterall! However, Sherrie gave me samples of the rest of the products I tried in our consultation.

I have used some of the samples as well, so here’s a quick overview of the ones I have used the most:

  • Grease lightning spot treatment: The sample is so worthwhile! As you only use a dot on your spots it will last you ages. Majorly recommend getting a sample of this to save you money. I have tried it a couple of times and it seems okay, my spot eventually did disappear but I can’t 100% promise it was thanks to this product, but I will continue using it.
  • The vanishing moisturiser cream: again a good little sample but obviously,  won’t  last as long as the spot cream. It feels light and non-greasy on your skin but I would usually go for something a little bit more fragrance free.

I have also tried the other cleanser samples however not enough to have a critical opinion just yet.

Overall I spent £19 on my products and took away a lot of lovely samples. The shop assistants were lovely, especially Sherrie, and the experience was a 10/10. A definite thumbs up from me in all areas.

I would definitely recommend going and getting your free skincare consultation and free samples even if you are not able to invest in any products for the time being. And let’s be honest who doesn’t love a Lush browse anyway!

Can ‘Fussy’ make the stinkometer turn green on natural deodorant?

Can ‘Fussy’ make the stinkometer turn green on natural deodorant?

If you’re not new to Radiance, you already know how we feel about natural deodorant. After trying ‘Wild’ for a week, our thoughts were a bit…all over the place. From the candy floss scent not lasting a week in hospitality, we thought the only viable option was to start again, in a new time and new place. This time, with a new contender, ‘Fussy’.
